About Damien OsborneFrom cutting edge filtered tech beats to live remixing, bootlegs and sampling, Dirty D has the dancefloor and the minds of his audience captured. Recently supporting some of the biggest names in dance music such as Miles Dyson, The Rogue Element and The Potbelleez, Dirty D has proved himself as an innovative DJ, performer and producer alike. Dirty D (aka Damien Osborne) has been producing his own music and DJing now for over ten years. He has played at some of Sydney’s premier clubs including Home, Chinese Laundry, The Cross, YU, The Burdekin, Middle Bar, Henry Afrikas, Will and Tobys, Melt, and Moulin Rouge. He also co-ran the massively popular “Drum [&] Breaks” nights with James Brett-Young (DJ JBY), showcasing the cream of Sydney’s drum ‘n’ bass and breaks DJs across two floors. On the production front, Damien has had nine record releases on labels: Destination?, Denim Label, Hussle 'n' Bussle, Fresh Produce (U.S), Forefront II compilation, Evolved and Breaking Point. His debut Record “Blowing up 20 spots (feat. MC Toasta)” hit NO 5 in the U.K charts and continues to be a favorite for many DJs across the globe. Using his unique mixing style, a live sampler, CDJ's and accapellas, Damien can take the dancefloor from just raw minimal bass rhythms, all the way back up again to the highest peak and then back down again, taking the dancefloor on a roller coaster ride of pure bliss. His bootleg productions have been recognized by DJs far and wide, some of which (like his remix of yeah yeah by Bodyrox) are being played to massive audiences and packing dancefloors the world over. Originally from the Northern Beaches, he has grown up as a surfer most of his life at Sydney’s infamous North Narrabeen beach. Starting out just playing guitar in rock and metal bands he has since then widely expanded his musical tastes. On a practical level this also included tinkering with old sound gear. Whether it be when his father bought him his first guitar, or the time he was given an obsolete Casio keyboard to tamper with, he has always shown a strange interest in sound and production. Throughout his youth he has been influenced by a diverse range of music genres such as punk rock, folk, metal, blues, grunge, pop, jazz, hip hop and his favorite of course, Dance music. It was the rave culture of the early nineties that sparked his love for DJing and electronic music production. After numerous mixed tapes and countless late nights on the decks he jumped at the challenge of composing his own songs. Soon after, Damien then relocated to the U.K for nearly two years. He has been a regular to such clubs nights as Fabric (London) and Tangled (Manchester), acquiring a taste for quality live electronic music and performance. DJing and playing live at various gigs in the U.K has heightened Damien’s technical ability and experience as a club DJ/Producer. After returning to Australia, Damien, Dr Benwah and Matt Dopamine formed Whomp! live, the electronic outfit that shredded up dancefloors across Sydney. Soon after this Damien won the Martins Records DJ Competition. Today with so much support from DJs across the globe playing his tunes and bootlegs he is more determined than ever to push the sound he has loved for so long. Followers
